Who We Are

We live in a world of great divisiveness, suffering and uncertainty. Yet, God calls us not to protect ourselves or condemn others, but rather to enter fully into the world's heartache with an open heart and giving hands. God desires us to be the answer to questions, such as: What does love look like to a man who is angry that he cannot find enough work to care for his family? What does love look like to a woman terrified to wear her hijab? What does love look like to a policy that violates the dignity of a human beings?

Grounded in Ignatian Spirituality and Catholic Social Teaching, the Ignatian Spiritual Life Center provides a safe and welcoming space for people to delve into these questions in the presence of God. We continue to ask God emphatically and in humility how God is calling us to respond to today's world, and what it requires of us individually and collectively to be channels of God's healing mercy and grace. Then, we discern what this response of love looks like in our personal lives and as a community. We constantly reflect on our prayer and our actions, with each one mutually informing the other.

The Center has two hands: one helps people nurture a profound and authentic relationship with God, while the other provides the spiritual support and concrete opportunities to live out what this relationship demands: a fierce and uncompromising love of the world. In short, the Ignatian Spiritual Life Center cultivates, trains and supports contemplatives in action.
